Waterfall Rappelling
This course is designed for beginners and more experienced folks looking for an amazing adventure in New England. We will meet at the Lafayette Place Campground Parking Lot (I93 South) in Franconia, NH at 9amn next to the visitors information center. After our introductions, we will fill out our waivers and get geared up for the day. We will then begin our adventure with an easy/moderate 1.2 mile hike in. We will pass several smaller falls on our way, with a few chances to take a dip in the pools at the base of the falls. Once we arrive at Cloudland Falls, we will get into our harnesses and helmets and then set up our ropes. Each participant will get a few chances to rappel the falls, while being backed up on a second rope by a guide. After our rappels, we will hike back to our cars where we will say our goodbyes. The day usually ends around 3pm.

FAQ
What should we were for footwear?
A pair of hiking boots or sturdy hiking shoes are a good choice for the hike in. Some folks chose to bring a pair of sneakers, water shoes, or closed-toed sandals for the rappelling. If you are okay with having your feet wet, it is just fine to only bring boots or hiking shoes. There are a couple of stream crossings along the way that can make keeping your feet totally dry a challenge.
When do we get back?
Our typical timeline is 9am to 3pm, although the end time can vary due to several factors. Larger groups typically take longer, while a day with a smaller group tends to be shorter. The speed on the hike in and out can also vary, as well as the conditions that day. 4pm would be a late day, while 1:30pm would be an early one.
Where do we meet?
We will meet at the Lafayette Place Campground parking lot on 93S at 9am for all group trips. We tend to gather somewhere around the information center at the main entrance.
Should we bring lunch?
Yes, a trail type lunch is a good idea. A sandwich and some snacks is good option, as well as 2 liters of water. You can really bring anything you like, just remember it will be stuffed into your backpack.
Do we have to have wetsuits?
You aren't required to have wetsuits, although we strongly recommend them. The water coming off the mountain is cold, even on the hottest days. Something to keep in mind is often when it is 85f in Boston, it is 75f at the trailhead, and 70f at the waterfall. We have shorty wetsuits available for rental for $20. We do bring them with us and rent on a first come first serve basis, but it is recommended to reserve ahead.
Difficulty
This course is designed for beginners, no previous experience is required. If you are in moderate physical shape we can tailor the rappels to fit your level.
