Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of shape should I be in?

Each course has a rating of it's difficulty under its page.  Most of our intro course require a fair level of fitness, while our Mt. Washington and Alpine Gullies climb require a higher level of fitness.

Where do we meet?

After signing up for a trip, you will receive a email containing location, as well as directions.

What gear do I need?

All technical gear is included (harness, helmet, crampons, ice tools/axes, chalk bag) for each trip. Footwear (rock shoes, mountaineering boots) are not included but are available for rental.  Please check our gear list for required winter personal gear.

How much do I tip my guide/s?

Tips are not mandatory, but always appreciated. The average tip would be the same percentage you would tip a waiter.

Is it safe?

Climbing does have inherent risks, although we do everything we can to minimize them.  They say the most dangerous part of a day out climbing is the ride home.

How long is the course?

Our top-rope and intro to rock courses are approximately 5 hours, our intro to ice is roughly 6 hours.  Our Mt. Washington and Alpine Gullies climb days have gone up to 12 hours

Do you offer other climbs not listed on the site?

Absolutely!  We offer custom trips to fit all experience levels, from a learn to lead rock course to an alpine gully full of ice.  So call us anytime to discuss your adventure goals.
